5 Reasons Young Artists Love It Here
1 The artists follow their own lead. There’s no set curriculum when students come here. They have a lot of choice in their projects. I want them to follow their art where ever it leads them. To do that, they have to be free without being tied to a set program. And the students really respond to this way of learning by doing and experimenting.
2 The atmosphere is fun. The artists work in the open in a give-and-take way. Jokes, comments, instruction, tips, and things to remember roll around the class in a bubbling stew of energy and fun that the students love. Every day I hear this: “I wish we could learn like this in school.”
3 We add energy with music. Each class decides what they want to hear during class and the selections reflect the energy of the day. The music is sometimes loud and sometimes quiet, it adds to the creative feel of the class.
4 The students learn a lot of different types of art. Our classes always do a wide variety of projects at the same time. This adds to the energy and crossover learning all at the same time. That means one student might be using water color while another is sketching, another is working with pastels, another is starting into acrylic paint, while others are learning about urban art and exploring graffiti.
5 Our art materials are first rate. I provide the students with high-quality art materials. The students work with the best and they see learn first hand how this can help their art.
